Philatelic Opera and Classical Music

Gozo Philatelic Society

To mark the month when both Victoria theatres, Astra and Aurora – the only two opera houses in the Maltese Islands – present their respective opera productions, the Gozo Philatelic Society showcase on Level -1 features a range of stamps and covers connected with opera, classical music, and musicians.

The Gozo Philatelic Society was founded on 3 September 1999 for the ‘promotion of the hobby’, the ‘provision of a point of reference’, and ‘co-ordination’.  It is a non-governmental organisation enrolled with the Commissioner for the Voluntary Sector (VO/0546).  The Society also publishes a quarterly full-colour newsletter, which is sent free to all members, and organises lectures by professionals in the field.  The Gozo Philatelic Society issues commemorative cards whenever MaltaPost releases a Gozo-related postage stamp and/or a special commemorative handstamp.
