Il-Ħaġar – Heart of Gozo was the venue of a very interesting cultural event on Friday 15th March, organized by the heritage organization Wirt Għawdex in conjunction with the Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria. The large gathering was first granted a special tour of the museum. The visitors was divided into three groups who were shown around the museum by the museum’s curator, Mgr Joseph Farrugia, Mr Charles Cassar and Dr Paul George Pisani respectively.

After the tour, Dr Pisani gave an interesting lecture on ‘Lent and Easter Customs’ in Gozo. The speaker discussed the various traditions which characterize this special period in the national calendar, starting from carnival to Easter Sunday. The lecture was held on the upper floor of the museum, where the items of Statuary related to Holy week served as an excellent backdrop. The lecture was accompanied by visual aids prepared by professional photographer Daniel Cilia. More lectures are planned for the coming months.
