NEW WORKS BY PAUL STELLINI

10 Aug 2014 - 05 Sep 2014

NEW WORKS is an exhibition of the latest drawings and paintings by Paul Stellini. Once again, Stellini is presenting a set of local landscapes, the thematic subject he mostly excels in and which has become synonymous with his name. The exhibition at Il-Hagar| Heart of Gozo will include typical Gozitan scenery with a particular focus on the architectural characteristics of the sister island, villagescapes expressing the closely knit cores of the local villages and the customs associated with these areas, as well as boatscapes.

However, these themes are developed and rendered in Stellini’s own personalized and distinctive style. Adopting a mixed media approach in his practice, Paul utilizes an interesting combination of swirly and freely applied acrylic paint superimposed by graphic drawn geometric shapes, forms and outlines in pen and marker, thus creating a unique fusion of the impressionist and semi abstract techniques. Using bold and warm Mediterranean colours or playing with monochromatic tones of grey, Paul always tries to project in his works an atmospheric feel and experience; this while still retaining a strong sense of aesthetic beauty and simplicity in all his works.

The exhibition will be open for the public between the 10th of August and the 5th of September, Monday to Sunday: 9.00am to 5.30pm, in the foyer of Il-Hagar| Heart of Gozo museum premises at St.George’s Square, Victoria –Gozo. The Hon. Minister for Gozo, Dr. Anton Refalo will officially open the exhibition on Saturday, 9th August at 7.30 pm. The Museum extends an invitation to the public to attend and view the exhibition.

 Entrance is free.
