2 September – 5 October 2025
To mark Fr Fabio Attard’s first official visit to his homeland since his election as the first Maltese Rector Major of the worldwide Salesian family, the Gozo Philatelic Society is presenting a selection of philatelic cards and stamps on a Salesian theme in its Level -1 display at Il-Ħaġar Museum. Earlier this year, Gozitan-born Fr Fabio became the eleventh successor of St John Bosco, a milestone now honoured through this special exhibition. The display features stamps, commemorative handstamps and covers issued over the years by local postal authorities. Alongside St John Bosco and Mary Help of Christians, other figures connected with the Salesian tradition are also celebrated. This temporary exhibition runs until Fr Attard’s visit to Gozo on 5 October 2025.
The Gozo Philatelic Society was founded on 3 September 1999 for the ‘promotion of the hobby’, the ‘provision of a point of reference’, and ‘co-ordination’. It is a non-governmental organisation enrolled with the Commissioner for the Voluntary Sector (VO/0546). The Society also publishes a quarterly full-colour newsletter, which is sent free to all members, and organises lectures by professionals in the field. The Gozo Philatelic Society issues commemorative cards whenever MaltaPost releases a Gozo-related postage stamp and/or a special commemorative handstamp.
