The annual Victoria International Arts Festival is this year celebrating its 29th edition. For the opening concert, the organisers are proudly presenting world-class classical guitarist, Simon Schembri, who will perform the much-loved Concierto de Aranjuez by J. Rodrigo. This will be the main item in an evening devoted to Spanish and Latin American repertoire. The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be under the direction of British conductor, Philip Walsh.
This opening concert will take place at the Teatru Astra on Friday 12th June, 8pm. Entrance is, as always, free, but it is recommended that seat reservations are made by sending an email to info@viaf.org.mt Tickets will be emailed to patrons close to the date of performance.
The opening concert heralds a run of 31 musical and cultural events. We look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be a wonderful month of music-making and more. The stunning rooftop of Il-Ħaġar Museum will once again host one of the Festival’s most eagerly awaited concerts: that of the Royal Conservatoire Brass of Scotland, which this year will take place on Thursday 18th June.
